It is a monster wild grape vine draping over an area of several hundred feet. I had visited this area several times and left a bucket of fruit. This time as I walked out across the creek, I carried my video camera at my waist and went to check the food bucket. My attention was on where I was putting my feet as I crossed the water and on the bucket lying on the ground. I glanced up and realized I was not alone. There was a young, black female about 10 feet away, crouched behind some weeds. My immediate reaction was to say "Hello" and avert my eyes back to the ground. I saw movement from behind the slanted tree as I moved the camera back and forth several times, turned it off and walked back out.

I was not frightened as much as slightly in shock and just went on autopilot. I reasoned that they were not showing signs of aggression and I was not in danger. Having looked carefully at the video, I have surmised that there were several younger guys in there resting as I walked in. Something had recently bitten the apple in half as it was not brown yet. I walked back out, got the fruit from the car and went back in and they had moved farther back. I left the fruit and headed back to another area.

I realize there isn't much you can see by watching the video, and little more than "blobsquatches" in the frame grabs. If you're not too picky about the quality you might find them interesting. One point of interest, during the series of frame grabs, a shrub is uprooted and carried up to the base of the slanted tree. Pretty good camofluage if your strong enough to do it.

What I took away from the experience was the need to announce your presence as you walk into an area, this gives them a chance to move to cover and causes less stress on everyone involved. Also, they could have, with good reason, hurt or confronted me and chose not to.
